My name is Katrina Haney and I am a newcomer to Medium, and I honestly cannot understand how I never knew about this site for all these years.

I’m writing this message for two reasons; first because I want to tell you about myself, and About Pages are never about yourself LOL, and secondly, because most people don’t read the About Pages anyway.

I am a writer, I have been a writer all my life. I started telling stories to my stuffed animals when I was about four. I have a book on Amazon titled Blood Rage, and I’m working on the sequel, to be titled Soul Searching.

So amongst other things, I will be sharing short stories and poetry.

I attended Florida Atlantic University and the University of Miami, attaining degrees in Psychology and Philosophy.

My life’s work was as a family and relationship counselor for many years, until I couldn’t handle it anymore.

After that I switched to database programming, and worked in that field for about 10 years, until I retired due to health reasons.

At the time I was married to my third husband, a wonderful man whom I lost in 2007. I spent seven years in a pretty bad depression.

However thanks to my family and friends, I am back to the old me the one I used to like.

My Family

A little about my family. I have two daughters, seven grandchildren ages 21 to 33, and eight great-grandchildren, the youngest one being only two months old, and the oldest just turned 16. In fact last weekend on her actual 16th birthday she went to her very first prom.

I have had the great good fortune of being able to watch all of them as they grew up or are still growing up and be closely involved in their lives.. Some of my family lives with me, and the rest are within five or 10 minutes from me. I am very grateful that I have had this opportunity, since many grandparents and certainly great-grandparents never get to experience this.

I also expect to have a few more great-grandchildren before my time is up, since one of my grandchildren is actively trying.

My Cat Family

I also love cats! I have had a cat in my life almost every day from the very first day I came home from the hospital. My father went out and gotten a kitten and put him in my crib with me. His name was Tommy, and I will be telling his story very soon.

Throughout my life I have had many cats, but some of them are more memorable than others, and of course their stories will appear here as well.

At the moment I have two cats named Sam and Dean, and supernatural lovers will understand the names. :-)

But that’s also a story for another time.

A New Career

Anyway, now I have come out of retirement and into yet a third profession, and I have become a copywriter. I have been studying copywriting through the American writers and artists Institute (AWAI) and will most likely continue doing so for the foreseeable future. I have written more about this in my about page if anyone is interested.

But here on medium I will be writing about many things, especially short stories and poems, as mentioned above.

With my background in psychology of course I am very interested in writing self-help and mental health articles.

But I will also be writing stories from my personal life, including things that will be a part of my memoirs, which my family has been anxiously wanting me to do, stories of my cats, and possibly an opinion or two.

The first article I will be publishing is very special to me, because it is about how I got my soulmate, whose friendship has had an enormous influence on me, as far as my emotional health goes. There will also be instructions on how you can find your own soulmate, so be sure to check that out; I think you’ll find it very interesting.

Thank You!

I thank everyone who has already been following me and I hope you won’t be disappointed once I start publishing my articles.

I cannot believe the talent I have discovered here on Medium, including all of the wonderful articles I have found that have been helping me to learn and understand Medium. I have not found this to be the easiest system I’ve ever worked with, and your articles have been greatly appreciated.

Here are some of the articles I found helpful in getting set up to publish on Medium. If you are just starting out, you might also find them helpful.
